About John:

John began improvising with Exploding Fish, Aberystwyth University’s Improv Society, in 2011. Since then, he has lead the society as President, and guided the performance team to numerous performances, most notably the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

After a brief year spell in Madrid, performing and working with English speaking group MADImprov, he returned to tutor an independent improv course at the Aberystwyth Art Centre.

He continued to develop his style, adopting a more longform approach, and exploring solo improvisation with his one man show, ‘One Board Man’, which he took to Edinburgh Fringe, Brighton Fringe, and numerous Improv theatres in London.

John has studied under a variety of teachers from a wide range of respected improv schools such as Upright Citizens Brigade, ImproImpar, The Annoyance Theatre, and ImprovOlympic.

John moved to Bristol in 2016 where he joined the Bristol Improv Theatre, Unscripted Players, and the Bristol Longform Community. From there, he joined and created a number of improv troupes including ‘The Inheritance’, ‘Macronaughts’, ‘Scenes To An End’, ‘The Wentworths’, ‘Beckys Got Food On Her Face’, ‘The Billy Boys’, and ‘The Faculty.’

He now works as an instructor at The Bristol Improv Theatre, is Production and Workshop Manager for The Unscripted Players, and is Outreach Director for Kitchen Rules Theatre.

John regularly performs, teaches, and coaches in Bristol
